Project Location

National pride project Bheri Babai Diversion Multipurpose Project is located in Bheriganga Municipality of Surkhet district, Karnali Province. The project was initiated with the aim of channeling water from Bheri River into the Babai River and using it for irrigation and power generation at Chiple of Bheriganga Municipality in Surkhet.

Headworks is located at Bheriganga Municipalty-11, Chiple on the left bank of Bheri river. A diversion barrage has been designed to construct across the Bheri River. Six numbers of intake orifices on the left bank feed surface settling basin of three bays and conveys the water to Babai River at Bheriganga Municipalty-5, Hattikhal by about 12.20 Km long headrace tunnel and 773 m long penstock pipe. A surface powerhouse has been proposed on the right bank of Babai River about 450 m upstream of the bridge situated at Ratna highway. The gross head of the project is 151 m while design discharge of the project is 40 m3/s.

Bheri Babai Diversion Multipurpose Project (BBDMP) Office was established in Birendranagar, Surkhet of Karnali Pradesh of Nepal, in FY 2067/068 to implement the Project activities on the fund allocated to the project by the GON. The project is conceptualised into three main components they are Water Diversion, Generation of Hydropower and irrigation.
